Bryn Mawr Riding Camp has developed a relationship with the University of Findlay and Centenary University, two of the most well-known equestrian schools in the United States. Horses that compete during the year as part of both schools’ IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) and IDA (Intercollegiate Dressage Association) programs spend their summers at Bryn Mawr Farms, helping campers reach their riding goals.
The Riding Director at Bryn Mawr Riding Camp and the coaches of Findlay and Centenary’s equestrian programs work together to select the very best horses to come to Bryn Mawr, based on skill set, show experience, and temperament. They range from Hunt Seat veterans and schoolmasters, perfect for beginner riders, to advanced dressage, hunter, and jumper horses suitable for teaching upper-level riders the intricacies of the discipline.
For the summer of 2025, Bryn Mawr Riding Camp will be receiving a total of 40 horses, many of which return year after year.
Meet The Stars of 2024
Our Camper Favorite Horses!
Ace
Ace is a 22-year-old Zweibrucker gelding from the University of Findlay that has been coming to camp since 2022. He is an experienced hunter and equitation horse and has even competed at IHSA Nationals for several years! He is a camper favorite for both jumping and flat lessons.
Arlo
Arlo is one of our “gentle giants” (a Friesian/Percheron cross), and one of our youngest camp horses! But don’t let his age fool you- at just 5 years old he is a fantastic teacher for our advanced riders. His favorite day of camp is cross country day, where he gets to show off his skills in the hunt field. Arlo is from the University of Findlay.
Caela
Caela was new to camp in 2024, though we expect her to return for many summers! Caela is a 13-year-old Holsteiner mare from Centenary University. Caela even got married while at camp (to another camp favorite- Valentino!) Our campers enjoyed planning and executing the best wedding Bryn Mawr has ever seen.
Jasper
Jasper is a 19-year-old Paint gelding from the University of Findlay. Jasper can be stubborn (and even a little moody!) at times, however, this means he is an excellent teacher for our campers and a fun challenge for them. A group of our campers even founded an official Jasper Fan Club!
Little Man
Little Man has been an integral part of our camp herd since 2018! He is a 21-year-old Pony of the Americas gelding from Centenary University. Little Man is adaptable to all levels of rider, from beginners to advanced. He is often our most requested horse on Horse Show day.
Scotch
Our “golden boy” Scotch has been at camp since 2021, and is a 16-year-old Quarter Pony from the University of Findlay. Besides his striking color, Scotch is an all-around fantastic pony who gives his riders a good challenge! He can be mischievous at times and always keeps his riders on their toes!
